The former Liverpool manager states coming back to manage Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Anfield in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club is something that could happen. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-year spell which brought Champions League success and the Reds’ first league title in 30 years, has since taken on positions as head of global soccer for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won the Premier League under Arne Slot, but many fans who revere Klopp would welcome the possibility of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he told his interviewer: “I stated I won't manage any other side within the country. Therefore if then it’s Liverpool...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“Being 58, which suggests I might decide in a few years, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? Then I will not coach again. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I can just see what lies ahead.”

Conditions for a Comeback

When asked about the specific conditions would need to occur to draw him back to the touchline, he confessed he was not instantly drawn toward coming back. “I don’t even know exactly, I love what I do right now,” he said. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be during downpours for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for media briefings multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews each week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area as a dressing room, however, dining out alongside the squad having a nice chat, is pleasant. With many victories so there was often positive atmosphere around the place. Remaining with me is the captain's chuckle in my ear to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise for his successor, crediting him for the adjustments that won the league last term. They've been defeated four consecutive matches in all competitions post heavy investment, yet he dismissed the notion it could be the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, incredible player. They have a strong balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of Jota, a player he signed during his tenure, and the effect for the team. The forward died tragically in a road accident alongside his brother this past summer.

“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond his footballing ability, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the team environment without him in it. I still cannot speak properly about it. It was an incredible shock for his teammates too. Nobody at Liverpool will ever use it for poor performances though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Coping with it on a personal level is challenging. Overwhelming.”
