The Blue Jays Secure Fall Classic Meeting Against Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer contributed to the Houston Astros claiming the championship in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their first World Series since 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.

Down three runs to one, Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh, leading the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a four games to three triumph in the series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the anticipated World Series.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, our city, Canada," said Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."

Springer has now connected for twenty-three playoff homers, ranking him third on the list after Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine another player on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that situation besides George Springer with his October magic," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the early in the series, continue to be the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "certainly that it's painful" in the wake of his team's loss at their home ballpark, but praised their efforts throughout the year.

"It's a special team. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the wrong side of this one," he remarked.

The Blue Jays won the World Series on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Dodgers in game one on Friday.
